Hi!Watts David Alistair
My name is David Watts. I am originally from the UK, but I have lived in Japan for over 10 years now. I studied Japanese and Linguistics at Sheffield University and have a Masters Degree in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) from The University of Bristol.
I have taught at various Japanese universities over the past 10 years, and came to Osaka University in April 2017. Now I teach Academic Writing and English classes to undergraduate and graduate students, many of whom have either studied abroad or are planning to do so in the future. My English language elective classes examine Local and Global Issues, European Cultures and Societies and Japanese Cultures and Societies. My aim is help all my students improve their English skills and abilities in all these fields in a supportive and enjoyable atmosphere.
My research interests include Language Learning Strategies training and the use of euphemism and cryptolects in various communities worldwide.
Happy language learning!
